Privacy Policy
About This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how AfterB Studio (the App, "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects personal data. It applies to the AfterB Studio iOS application and is written in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation 2016/679).
Local-First by Design
AfterB Studio is a local-first app. Your client photos, before & after projects, measurements, client details, and consent records are stored only on your device. We have no accounts and no sign-up. This content is never uploaded to our servers, and we cannot access it. It leaves your device only when you choose to export, share, or back it up.
Data Controller
The data controller responsible for the limited data processed by the App (analytics and advertising, described below) is the developer of AfterB Studio. For contact details, see the Contact section below.
Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of data:
- Content you create (stored on-device only) — photos, before & after projects, measurements, client names and contact details you enter, and consent records. This stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
- Usage analytics (optional) — when you have not disabled analytics, we collect anonymised events such as which features you use. No photos and no directly identifying information are included.
- Advertising data (free version) — free users are shown ads via Google AdMob. With your permission (App Tracking Transparency), the advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used to show more relevant ads. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are non-personalised.
We do not collect your name, email address, or payment information. Payments are handled entirely by Apple.
Your Responsibility for Client Data
AfterB Studio is a professional tool for capturing before & after photos of your clients. When you photograph or record details about another person, you act as the data controller for that information. You are responsible for obtaining each client's consent before capturing their photos and for handling their data lawfully. The App's built-in consent records are provided to help you document this, but they do not transfer responsibility to us.
Legal Basis for Processing
- Core app functionality — content you create is stored locally to provide the service you requested (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). It is not processed by us.
- Analytics — processed on the basis of your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings by turning off analytics.
- Advertising — personalised advertising is processed on the basis of your consent via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party data processors:
- Google Firebase (Analytics) — Google LLC, USA. Processes anonymised usage data. Data may be transferred outside the EU under Standard Contractual Clauses. firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google AdMob (Advertising) — Google LLC, USA. Serves ads to free users and may process the advertising identifier when you allow tracking. policies.google.com/technologies/ads
No third party is permitted to access your client photos or use your data for their own purposes beyond what is described here.
Data Retention
- Your content (photos, projects, measurements, client details) is stored locally on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Backups you create are stored wherever you choose to save them.
- Analytics events are retained by Google Firebase for up to 14 months, after which they are automatically deleted.
- Your in-app preferences are stored locally on your device only and are deleted when you uninstall the App.
Children's Privacy
AfterB Studio is intended for use by professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your Rights Under GDPR
As a data subject under the GDPR you have the following rights:
- Right of access (Art. 15) — you may request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification (Art. 16) — you may ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure (Art. 17) — you may request deletion of your data.
- Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18) — you may ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Right to data portability (Art. 20) — you may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object (Art. 21) — you may object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Right to withdraw consent — you can disable analytics and tracking at any time in Settings.
Because your content is stored only on your device, you can exercise access, portability, and erasure for it directly within the App. For the analytics and advertising data described above, contact us using the details in the Contact section and we will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority (e.g. the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens ).
Analytics & Your Choice
Analytics are enabled by default to help us understand feature health and improve the app. This data remains pseudonymous and never includes your photos or client information. You can opt out at any time in the app's Settings.
Subscription Terms
AfterB Studio Pro — What You Get
Subscribing to AfterB Studio Pro unlocks the following features on top of the free experience:
Create as many edited before & after projects as you like.
Share polished images without the AfterB Studio badge.
No ads anywhere in the app.
Export before & after reports for your clients.
Add your own logo and company name to reports.
Keep your portfolio safe with encrypted backups.
Pricing & Plans
AfterB Studio Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription with monthly and yearly options. The exact price for your region is always shown in the app before you confirm any purchase.
Billing & Renewal
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period at the same price.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- No refunds are provided for the unused portion of an active subscription period; refunds are handled by Apple under its standard policies.
Terms of Use
Acceptance of Terms
By downloading or using AfterB Studio, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
Acceptable Use
AfterB Studio is intended for lawful, professional use. You agree to obtain the necessary consent from any person whose photos or personal data you capture, and not to use the App to store or share unlawful, harmful, or non-consensual content.
Limitation of Liability
AfterB Studio provides photo capture, comparison, and reporting tools for informational and professional documentation purposes only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, diagnostic, or treatment advice. You assume full responsibility for how you use the App, for the accuracy of any measurements or reports you produce, and for the lawful handling of your clients' data. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
